Friends of Shannon Fund Info

The Friends of Shannon fund is a charitable non-profit organization that was established to give financial assistance to health and human services programs, with a focus on health care and safety for women and children. The fund was established in memory of Shannon Lowney by her fiance, David Keene, and will be administered by seven trustees as requests for money are received. Examples of requests that might be funded include the hiring of personnel or the purchase/installation of a metal detector.

The Friends of Shannon fund was established in memory of Shannon Lowney, who worked at the Planned Parenthood clinic and was one of two women killed on December 30, 1994 in the Brookline, MA, USA shootings. Shannon Lowney also was the roommate of Jeff Cawthorne, one of the organizers of the Safe and Sound Benefit and the drummer in the Boston band Plush, which will perform Saturday, February 4, 1995, at The Rathskeller, better known as The Rat.
