Safe and Sound Benefit

Safe and Sound is a 5-day Benefit organized by local Boston musicians in response to the Brookline Clinic Violence, scheduled for February 1-5, 1995. Seven Boston area clubs will host 35 bands and solo performers including Morphine, Throwing Muses, Letters To Cleo, Bill Janovitz of Buffalo Tom, Kevin Salem, Janet LaValley (formerly of Tribe), Scarce, Dirt Merchants, Mary Lou Lord, Miles Dethmuffen, Gigolo Aunts, The Barnies, Ukla, Cobalt 60, The Allstonians, and Jennifer Trynin.

Proceeds from the week's events will benefit the Friends of Shannon fund, which was established in memory of Shannon Lowney, who worked at the Planned Parenthood clinic and was one of two women killed on December 30, 1994 in the Brookline shootings. Shannon Lowney also was the roommate of Jeff Cawthorne, one of the organizers of Safe and Sound and the drummer in the Boston band Plush, which will perform Saturday, February 4, 1995, at The Rathskeller, better known as The Rat.
